What To Expect At A Vein Clinic In Houston

What To Expect At A Vein Clinic In Houston

If you are dealing with abnormal veins, such as varicose veins or spider veins, you may be considering a visit to a vein clinic. If you want to have your veins evaluated, an important first step is that you choose the correct specialist.

Whether you live in Houston or Katy, no matter which vein clinic you go to, it’s critical that a vascular surgeon treats your veins. It’s not enough just go to a vascular surgeon’s office, but it’s also important that the actual surgeon himself treats you – and sees you before and after your vein care.

Some people who seek vein treatment aren’t aware of that simple fact.

Some patients instead see a physician assistant, or a physician whose medical specialty involves no formal training in vein disease. A visit with a board-certified vascular surgeon at a reputable vein clinic can help put your worries to rest.

What Is A Vein Clinic?

A vein clinic is a medical facility that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal veins and related conditions. Vein clinics may offer a number of treatment options to clients, including venous ultrasound, sclerotherapy, endovenous laser ablations, micro-phlebectomy, VNUS Closure, VeinGogh and more.

Preparing For Your First Appointment

During your first appointment at our vein center, you will meet with a board-certified vascular surgeon who will examine your abnormal veins. Be sure to wear loose clothing around the affected areas so your doctor can access them easily. Your doctor will also collect information about your medical history at this time, so be prepared to:

  • Provide a list of all of your medications and previous surgeries
  • Report any symptoms you have experienced or are currently experiencing
  • Answer other questions related to your past experiences and current health
  • Talk about any at-home abnormal vein treatments you have attempted

After performing an exam and an ultrasound and then reviewing all of the information collected, your vascular surgeon will explain your treatment options and provide his or her recommendation. You will then be able to decide what course of action is best for you. If you choose to pursue treatment, you can typically schedule your treatment session at the end of this appointment.
